Thermostats are an electromechanical controller for temperature control. The devices are located in a liquid-filled measuring system, which consists of a temperature sensor, a capillary, a Bourdon tube or capsule and a switch. The temperature-dependent volume change in the measuring system is converted by a spring or capsule into a rotational or pushing motion without transmission. The rotation of the pointer shaft or the stroke of the capsule activates a switch that opens or closes the contacts.
